Rides - Lizard Under the Skillet

Yes, July is hot!
As legend goes, it was SO hot that the lizard crawled out of the pan and into the fire in order to find some shade. Cyclists have joined that lizard time and time again, happily pedaling under the scorching, Kansas July sun. What better way to beat the heat than to come out to Lawrence, Kansas, and ride the Lizard Under the Skillet. The ride has three route options: 30, 40 and 62 (Metric Century) miles. All routes are on paved roads with roaming SAG vehicles. For those cyclists who want to bump up the intensity ride, we will provide hot peppers, and an assortment of other spicy Mexican fare. (We'll even provide space heaters and blankets for those of you who are afraid you might catch a chill at the SAGs.) For the sane cyclists (wimps), there will be the usual fruit, water and cookies at the SAGs.
Registration Fees
The fee is $25 for early registration and $30 for registrations postmarked after June 21 or received the day of the ride. The fee includes rest stops and SAG service. T-shirts are available for purchase. The shirt is printed with a large "Skillet" logo on the back and a small heart-print on the front. (We order a few extra T-shirts, but they always sell out! To ensure you get a shirt, we recommend you order with pre-registration no later than June 21, 2013.)
Early Packet Pickup
Pre-registration and early packet pickup will be on Saturday, July 6 from noon-6 p.m. at Sunflower Outdoor and Bike, 804 Massachusetts St Lawrence, KS 66044. Day-of Registration (July 7) will run from 6-8 a.m.
Ride Start
The ride begins between 6-8 a.m. at Broken Arrow Park. The Lawrence Bicycle Club will provide SAG stops on all three routes. The course closes at 3 p.m.

All events are subject to postponement or cancellation. There are no refunds because of bad weather. All announcements will be made on Sunday at Broken Arrow Park or check the website at www.lbc-cycling.com.
